Still in the early stages of development, the ministry of Word of Life in Austria already has been presented with tremendous opportunities to share the gospel of Christ. Pioneered in 1997 by Bobby Parshauer, Word of Life Austria is now fully recognized and incorporated by the Austrian government. The ministry is currently coordinated by Johnny and Thays Fürst. Word of Life owns a property located near Villach in south-central Austria. The ministry focuses on children's and youth´s programs and aims to annually reach 2,000 people with the gospel message through camps, children's musicals, bible clubs, Local Churches Ministry and other evangelistic outreaches. The future plans of Word of Life Austria includes expanding the staff and developing a stronger Bible Club. Praise the Lord for the great things He is doing in Austria!
Austria's fame finds it's roots in the legacy of the Habsburgs once the most powerful dynasty in Europe, and in its extraordinary musical heritage with Mozart, Schubert, and Strauss. Located in the heart of Europe, its 83,850 square kilometers are known for breathtaking Alps, numerous lakes and forests, and picturesque towns and villages. Today, 61 per cent of Austria's 8.6 million people claim to be Catholic. However, statistics show that 80 percent have some relationship with the occult. The fastest growing group is those who claim ‘no confession’, now representing more than 20 percent of the population. The doors are wide open for Word of Life, as at least 80 percent of all free evangelical churches in Austria have no youth ministry.
