Lithuania, officially the Republic of Lithuania, is a country in Northern Europe. One of the three Baltic states, it is situated along the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea. Lithuania has an estimated population of 3 million as of 2013. Lithuania has been among the fastest growing economies in the European Union and is ranked 24th in the world in the Ease of Doing Business Index. Freedom has brought progress. Doors for the gospel remain open, and evangelical positions can have a hearing in society. However, with freedom came many dangers – increased materialism, hedonism and nihilism. Substance abuse, suicide and, most sinister, trafficking women for prostitution in the West all disintegrate the nation’s foundations. Economic growth must be paired with real social and spiritual transformation; pray that God would bring massive societal change through His people.
