About Corrie

I grew up in the ministry. My dad was a chaplain at a prison. As a family we went into the prison every Sunday to worship the Lord with my father and with the men at the prison. At the age of 4 as my dad was given an alter call, I told my mom that I wanted to become a Christian. My mom and I knelt down and I prayed and asked the Lord to forgive me of my sins and be my Lord and Saviour. But honestly, I didn't know what I did. I didn't completely understand. As I grew, I had doubts of my salvation. I never shared my doubts with anyone in my family. At the age of 8 my family and I studied about Gladys Aylward. After learning about her, I felt the Holy Spirit calling me to be a missionary to the Chinese speaking people. Growing up, I fought with God because I was scared to leave my family and go to a new country, try new foods and be in a place that I had no idea about. I fought with God until I was 16 years. At the age of 16 that is when my life started to change. I went to a youth rally and there I heard the Gospel again. I remember clearly the speaker saying that if you didn't have a relationship with Christ, you would die and go to Hell. I remember getting home that night and sharing with my younger sister that I didn't know I had a relationship with Christ. I was afraid that if I went to bed that night and died in my sleep, that I wouldn't go to Heaven and be with Jesus. I went to the living room to see if my parents were still awake and they were. I shared my heart with them and that night I made a decision to believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I understood what I did at 4 years old and fully understood what I was doing that night. I asked Him to forgive me of my sins. I knew that if I were to die that night in my sleep, that I would be in Heaven. I have a relationship with Jesus and it's eternal. Shortly after that decision was made, I went to a mission conference at my church and on the last day the Lord said, "Corrie, stop fighting with me and give your life to me." So I went forward and surrender my life over to do full time ministry or whatever the Lord would want me to do. Shortly after that the Lord brought some Chinese families into my life and I got to attend their Chinese Bible Study and learn the culture and the language. Shortly after that my parents and I found a program in Taiwan where young people could come and serve as a volunteer English teachers and work there for a year. At the time, I didn't have the money to go but the Lord was calling me to go there. He provided all of the funds I needed to get there. When I first arrived in Taiwan, I fell in love with the culture and with the people. I knew that this is where the Lord wanted me to serve. I worked with the program for 8 years. I started to pray about coming to Taiwan on my own through a mission program and the Lord open the doors for me to come to SYME Taiwan through Word of Life. God is continually leading me in my life to share the Gospel and disciple people for Him. God has always been faithful to me and I have seen Him do the IMPOSSIBLES in my life. I'm thankful for His guidance in my life. Where He leads I will go!

Life Verse

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:13-15
