Ministry Description

For 3 years now my ministry has been serving in kitchens of Word of Life International, one in Japan and one in Korea. The work I do is in cooking and serving food, I make the menu I do the shopping and I do the prep and cooking. So my days are full with coming upon with menus and then seeking how to make them better. My desire in this is to serve the team members and the students to the best of my ability so that they are able to focus on teaching and learning. This is on my heart because when the teachers are able to focus more time on their lessons they are able to give their all into it. The students are able to put their effort into studying and growing. All this is to prepare the students to be able to confidently go into places you and I may never know of and share the gospel. I am able to support them by feeding them and serving them in the background in order for them up to do the work that God has called them to and the work he is preparing them to do. When I'm not in the kitchen I am spending time with students getting to know them and disciple them.

For the first two years i will be there I will be learning the Japanese language. Once I am done with that I will be joining SYME (School of Youth Ministries in English) where I will work as the chef for the staff and students. When I'm not cooking I will be disciplining students that are learning English at the school. As well as getting involved with any ministries that we are doing when I have time to do so.

About Joe

Growing up I thought that I was Christian because I was born into it and I went to church on Sunday and youth group once in a while. Until my senior year of high school that is when I started to really ask what being a Christian is about. I have always had a passion for being in the kitchen, since I was young I was trying to cook as many things as I could learn to cook. In my second year in high school, I started to take cooking classes and wanted to go to school for it. In the summer of 2013, I went to Word of Life Inn and the conference center to work in the kitchen. During that summer God got ahold of my heart and I dedicated my life to Christ and I started to seek a relationship with him. Over the next few years, I had learned how to serve God through work in kitchens, and in the summer of 2017, I was presented with an opportunity to go serve in Japan working in the kitchen of SYME Japan. While I spent time in prayer over it and ask some elders in the church to pray with me about it, I decided to pursue that opportunity. After starting to take steps I continued to see God provide the way. I visited for a month before committing and I fell in love with it over there. In my first year there God showed me the need that there is for the gospel in Japan. Now three years later I am getting ready to go back as a full-time missionary to Japan to help the ministry there share the gospel as well as equip young Christians to confidently share their faith in their circle of influence.
