Richard and Yohanna De Oliveira
What We Do
The Word of Life Missionary Institute (IMPV): The Missionary Institute was launched in February of 1992. It offers the holistic preparation of the student to reach the less evangelized populations in Brazil and in unreached people groups around the world. Richard is the director and teacher at IMPV and Yohanna, besides being a teacher, works with young women at the school.
Course of Leadership Training (CLT): The goal of this ministry is to make accessible a practical biblical course to leaders who live in strategic areas (cities and villages) in the Amazon Region, one of the neediest regions in Brazil. CLT has a three year format, and the meetings are always on Saturdays or intensive weekends, ministering where the people are. Richard is the director and teacher of CLT.
Preaching and Teaching Ministries: Many times they have seen the Lord using their family to minister in conferences and churches in the Region. Beyond that, they frequently go to difficult access areas by boat for short trips to evangelize, teach, and lead student groups.
I am Brazilian and was born in a Catholic family. During my childhood, my parents got divorced. When I was 17 years old, I put my faith in Jesus as my personal Savior and Lord. In 1994 I started at Word of Life Bible College, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, were I graduated with a Bachelors in Theology, December, 1998. While there, I met and married Yohanna in September, 1999. From 1998 to 2004 I have served as pastor at my home church. In January, 2005, we moved from Southeast Brazil to start ministering at Word of Life in Northern Brazil. In December, 2006, I finished my Master's Degree (MDiv) in Practical Theology at Faculdade Teologica Sul Americana, in Londrina, Parana, Brazil. And, in May, 2016, I finished my Doctor of Ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary.
I'm also Brazilian. I put my faith in the Lord Jesus at the age of twelve, in a Brazilian Church, in Recife, Northeast Brazil. In 1993 I left my undergrad course of Computer Science and, with my church's blessings, went to Word of Life Bible College in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in February of 1994. In 1998, I graduated with a Bachelor's in Theology with a minor in Missions and Christian Education. In May, 2010, I finished my Master's Degree at Columbia International University, Columbia, SC, USA, in the Master program of Arts, with a major in Intercultural Studies. We have two children, Ruth (07/10/2001) and Nathan (08/12/2003).
