Our missionaries are normal people from all walks of life who have dedicated their lives to serving and following Jesus wherever He calls them. Want to meet them? Check out our Missionary Directory.
Growing up I lived with my mom and twin brother, and I would say we were pretty close and my mom did everything to make sure that we had best of what she thought was good for us, she worked hard to get us through good school and made sure we grew up to be healthy kids. When I was about 8, my mom lost her job so we had to move to another province and live with extended family that was so different because my aunt had about 8 kids and so I did not do very well with that and became very introverted. Which caused me to be very lonely and without friends.
That seemed okay at the time but as time went on I realized that I needed friends and just people to talk to. In grade 5 I moved in with my two sisters who were young at that time, my mom was still without a stable job so we couldn’t live with her. My one sister started to go to church and she would come back pretty happy and she seemed to have so many friends and family outside of our small family. I started going to church with her . At church they would talk about Jesus and how he died for our sins and that we need to believe in Him if we want to go to heaven. They also spoke about what a horrible place hell was, I told myself that I already don’t have the perfect life I want so I can’t go to hell to. One Sunday afternoon after church I asked a lady to please explain to me how I can get saved, she share with me the gospel and I believed that Christ had died for my sins and He wants me to go to heaven, but most of all that I can have a relationship with Him, I thought finally I can have the close friend I have always wanted.
My family situation did not change but somehow Christ gave me the peace I needed even as a young child, He still gives me that peace even now. The next year the Lord worked it out that my brother and I were able to move back in with my mom in Johannesburg and life sort of went back to normal although it was not the same but I still had the peace and hope that surpassed all understanding.
The Lord has since taught me so much about Him. He has not left me and has remained to be faithful even at times when I was not faithful.
Colossians 3:1-4 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
