About Uriah

I grew up in Schroon Lake, New York, a little town conveniently located in the middle of nowhere. Both of my parents are Christians, and I have two sisters. My dad worked at the Word of Life Bible Institute as a chef.

One night, when I was four years old, my dad sat me down at the kitchen table and explained the gospel to me. He told me about God and his Holiness. He told me about Sin and it’s Penalty, Death and Eternity in Hell. He told me about Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. And Three days later, He rose from the dead, and is now preparing a place for all those who will trust him and believe. That night Jesus came into my life. I remember laying in my bed and felling an overwhelming sense of Peace.

When I was twelve years old, my dad decided to become an Evangelist. I spent a lot of time traveling with him to different churches as he was raising support, and I was able to watch him share the gospel with all kinds of people in parks and on street corners. But I never wanted to share the gospel myself. I knew that even though I was saved, my life was still full of sin, and this confused me.

When I was eighteen years old, I got a job as a lifeguard at the Word of Life Ranch. One night during a Sunday night service, my unit leader, Chris Hamilton, spoke on 1 John 3:9 which says, “No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.” Chris then explained how at the moment of salvation, Christ’s identity becomes my identity. When God looks at me, he doesn’t see my sin anymore. He only sees Jesus, the one who died in my place. Every day here on earth we will struggle and sin, but Jesus has promised to be with us every step of the way. Once I realized this, I was able to start living for Christ with new confidence.

Life Verse
