Dates: 08/27/2022 - 08/15/2023

Cost: $1,200.00

Ministry Description

Summary

Develop and oversee the Bible Institute greenhouse, located on the beautiful tourist island of Jeju, in order to provide all the salad bar vegetables for the year. Train and disciple younger staff and students who will be working with you.

Strategy

WOLBI Jeju is a cross-cultural launching pad for training and sending young people into the most unreached part of the globe with the Gospel--into Asia. In an effort to make WOLBI more self-sustainable we have a greenhouse for growing salad bar vegetables. But it needs someone with farming/gardening skills to develop it and to train young people to maintain it.

Travel

By plane to Incheon International Airport (cost $1000-$1500) and then transfer to Gimpo Airport to fly to Jeju Island (cost $50-$100). The trip is approximately 20-24 hours. Layovers may extend this time. WOLBI staff will meet you at the Jeju Airport to transport you to campus.

Housing

A small efficiency apartment on campus.

Transportation

WOLBI is located in a rural area so having the ability to drive is very helpful. Volunteers with driving experience and an international driving permit may be able to use some of our ministry vehicles. Most of our vehicles are 12-passenger, though, so the driving permit needs to cover that. Volunteers are welcome to purchase a used vehicle for personal use if desired.

Food

Volunteers are able to purchase meals at the WOLBI dining room. The cost is about $8/meal/person. Couples are generally encouraged to eat breakfast and dinner at home.

Visa

WOLBI can apply for a one-year missionary visa for the volunteer. The visa paperwork process would need to begin June 1 before coming in September

Other Information

We have students on our campus for 11 months, so it is very helpful to have volunteers rotate in with the students and rotate out when they do. Korea is very strict and safe in regard to COVID. Depending on the current situation and government guidelines, 10-14 days of quarantine on our campus may be required when you enter Korea. Most airlines/governments require a negative rapid PCR test within 24-72 hours of boarding the plane.
