Ministry Description

In Japan, I will be working primarily with SYME and English Cafe in Himeji, Japan. SYME stands for "School of Youth Ministry in English". As a missionary with CCI, I have the opportunity to be involved with the events and teaching of the SYME program. At SYME, English is taught using the Bible, and is reinforced through tutoring and personal discipleship with the students. Alongside SYME, I have the opportunity to be involved with English cafe, where people may come to practice speaking English with native speakers over coffee and snacks. As with SYME, English cafe also holds events throughout the year, and regularly presents the gospel through conversation with others.

About Cody

I came to know Christ at 8 years old. Before salvation, I didn't much care for church or the Bible, and I wasn't aware of my sinfulness. As I went to church, I was taught and memorized the verses such as Romans 3:23 and Romans 5:23, learning that everyone was a sinner, and that my sin separated me from God. Learning that the remedy for this was faith in Jesus-who had died and risen to pay for my sin- I accepted His payment by faith. After salvation, I learned of Romans 8:15, and how I have sonship in the Spirit through Christ, that I could call God my Father. This was very impactful for me, having an absence of my earthly father, I fully claimed this reality of my Heavenly Father, and He has opened my heart to help others accept this relationship with God as well - so that others may not be bound by fear of judgement, but may claim the Spirit of adoption "by whom we cry out 'Abba, Father'".

Life Verse

“And in that day you will say: “Praise the LORD, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, make mention that His name is exalted.” – Isaiah 12:4
