About Tomas
I was adopted when I was 6 and came to America from Ethiopia. I grew up in a Christian household and was taught about God and the new life we can have in Jesus! I understood the good news of the gospel when I was 7 but sadly my priorities at that age were just about sports and having fun. I kept living a surface level Christian life until I got badly injured playing soccer where I broke my leg and tore a few things in my knee. At this time, soccer was my life and all I cared about. After my injury It seemed like I had no purpose as I couldn’t play soccer anymore. I realized life had more to offer than kicking a ball into a net and at this time I realized my identity is not found in sports but in Jesus. Through meeting with my pastor and studying the Bible, I understood that there is hope in Jesus alone! This was the revolutionary moment in my life to understand living for Jesus brings so much more joy to life than chasing the fleeting passions of the world. Through all of this my heart has grown to share this message but ultimately the message of the gospel with youth. Through attending Word of Life Bible Institute, I’ve had amazing opportunities to work with youth throughout the years and have a burden to share the gospel with them. Now I have an incredible opportunity to work with the youth in Panama sharing all that the Lord has taught and how they can have a personal relationship with the creator of the universe!
Life Verse
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:1-2 KJV
