Our missionaries are normal people from all walks of life who have dedicated their lives to serving and following Jesus wherever He calls them. Want to meet them? Check out our Missionary Directory.
We are serving with the Bible Clubs ministry, evangelizing and discipling young people to help them become more like Christ. We work closely with youth leaders in local churches, training and equipping them with Biblical material for their youth groups.
The camping ministry is also our passion. Both of us made life changing decisions at camp. We believe there is something special about taking a teenager from his normal routine and putting him face to face with God's Word. Word of Life Peru has a beautiful property where we hold camp for schools during the year and summer camps in the months of January and February. During camp, I am the Program Coordinator and Valeria is in charge of the girl's volunteers.
At the age of 5, I was in junior church listening to a message about Heaven and Hell. I learned that the only way that I could be in Heaven was by asking Jesus Christ in my heart. At the end of the message I came forward and a Sunday school worker showed me how I could be saved. I asked Jesus Christ to forgive me of my sin, I thanked Him for dying on the cross for me and I asked Him to save me. I have never doubted my salvation; I know that I am saved based on Romans 10:13.
I believe I was called into the ministry while I was a teenager. During my high school years, I was involved in ministry in my school. After I graduated, I ignored God's calling and tried to pursue my own goals. I went to college to become a teacher and during that time the Lord made me miserable. I had no desire to continue on with my studies in college. It was through the counsel of my parents and a pastor at church that the Lord led me to the Word of Life Bible Institute. In a missions conference in 2005, I finally surrendered to the Lord's calling to the ministry.
I had the opportunity to go on different missions trips to South America and the Lord used those trips to place a burden in my heart for the people of South America. Also, in one of those trips I met my wife who was already a missionary in Peru. During a couple of trips to Peru, God placed in me a desire to serve in that country. I married Valeria in 2009 and after a year of deputation, we arrived to Peru as Word of Life missionaries.
I was born into a missionary family and had the privilege to be raised under Biblical principles. At the age of five, I made the most important decision of my life: to receive Christ as my personal Savior. Since then, I started developing a personal relationship with God and growing in my Christian faith. My family moved to Peru when I was eight, and at the age of thirteen at a Word of Life camp I realized that I wasn't making a difference at school. That week I dedicated my life to the Lord, to be a testimony wherever I was.
After high school, I went to the Word of Life Bible Institute in Argentina for three amazing years. During that time, God put a burden in my heart for full-time ministry. At the end of my studies, I returned to Peru as a single missionary, and three years later I met Derek through a missions trip. It is wonderful to see how God brought a man into my life with the same desires and goals that I had. We got married in April, 2009, in Peru. We are both certain that God has called us to serve among the youth of Peru.
God has blessed us with two beautiful children, Daniel (4) and Brianna (2). It is our prayer that we may raise them in the ways of the Lord.
"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21
