Our missionaries are normal people from all walks of life who have dedicated their lives to serving and following Jesus wherever He calls them. Want to meet them? Check out our Missionary Directory.
Jon is the Field Coordinator in Southeast Asia (country's name withheld). In 2019, our team grew in numbers to seven Word of Life missionaries. Our goal is to engage young people through evangelism and discipleship. There are three ministries to execute them: Spiritual Retreat (Camping Ministry), (LCM) Local Church Ministry, and (EFL) English For Life.
My family arrived in Southeast Asia in June of 2017. We are meeting people and visiting schools that might be interested in the Word of Life ministry. We are presently learning the national language at home online. Understanding the language is a vital part of communicating the Word of Life ministries.
About Field Worker 1
I grew up in the church ever since I can remember. At eight years old, we moved to the United States from the Philippines. Even though I grew up in the church, I had no concept of my eternal destination. I first heard the gospel when I was 32 years old. The pastor preached on John 3:16 and 14:6, these verses showed me that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. That Sunday morning on March 29, 1994, I received Jesus Christ as my Savior. In June of 1998, my desire to know more of God brought me to the Word of Life Bible Institute in the Philippines. God not only taught me to better understand His word, but also showed me that, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;" (Matthew 9:37). God used that year to show me the need for evangelism in my home country. I wanted to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to the youth of the Philippines. In May 2003, after graduating from Philadelphia Biblical University, my family and I accepted God's call to serve Him in Word of Life Philippines (2006-2015). Afterwards, we spent a year at SYME (School of Youth Ministry in English) in Taiwan to learn that facet of Word of Life ministry. We finished our training in May 2017.
My family and I finally arrived to our new field in Southeast Asia (country's name withheld) on June 2017. Since we are still working on our language study, we are only able to minister to English-speaking nationals. However, our limitation has not limited God neither is He waiting for us till we know the official language before He "launches us into the deep."
About Field Worker 1 Spouse
I was born and raised in a traditional and legalistic religion. After I heard the gospel at age 16, I invited Jesus Christ to be my personal Savior. I wanted then to become a missionary, so I could share Christ with others. However, the Lord had other plans. After many years of growing and learning from His Word, the Lord granted my desire. At age 35, my family and I went back to the Philippines as full time missionaries. Though it had been an awesome adventure serving the Lord there with my husband, Jon, and our four children, we felt God's call to serve Him in South Asia...a country where majority of the people do not know Jesus Christ. Our children-David (2000), Nathan (2003), and Sammy (2005) and Abigail (2010) attend a local school where Jon and I teach religion classes to high school students. It's a wonderful opportunity to teach the Bible.
"Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began," 2 Timothy 1:9
