Our missionaries are normal people from all walks of life who have dedicated their lives to serving and following Jesus wherever He calls them. Want to meet them? Check out our Missionary Directory.
Palabra de Vida Paraguay's vision for their ministry is "Cada joven en todo lugar escuchando el Evangelio por un amigo" which translates, "Every student everywhere hearing the Gospel from a friend. Palabra de Vida is dedicated to sharing the gospel with the next generation of Paraguay and equipping them to share the gospel.
One of the ministries that I get to be a part of will be their Center for Evangelism and Discipleship. Students take online classes through WOL Argentina, but have the rest of their experience of ministry and discipleship in Paraguay. Another ministry I get to be apart of is the transcultural ministry. This ministry is where we go to the northern indigenous communities and serve by providing Bibles in their language and dialect, clothes and other necessities.
There are also camping ministries that I will be involved with, both summer and winter seasons! I am really excited to be apart Paraguay's new evangelistic ministry called "AVANZA 17." The vision for this ministry is to reach every one of the 17 provinces of Paraguay with the gospel and to partner with local churches to share the gospel together. I also get to serve through the local church and Bible clubs.
Growing up, my perspective of God was that of a distant being who was angry and disappointed in me because I sinned. I remember being hopelessly trapped because of my sin. I would read the Bible and get confused, thinking God was a liar. I remember reading the Bible and thought that in order for God to love me I had to love Him back. I remember the Bible saying that how we love God is by obeying His commands. Because I could not perfectly obey, I thought God hated me, and I began to hate Him back. Even though I knew I couldn't be perfect I still tried to earn His love. Out of the same desire to earn God’s love I decided to go to Word of Life Bible Institute. I did not want to fall away from the Christian culture I grew up in and studying God’s Word more should make God love me more.
When I got to the Bible Institute God quickly convicted me that I was adding to the gospel. I was mixing what I could do to earn God's favor in with the gospel. He was showing me I was wrong. The next week our professor constantly repeated one phrase and I finally understood what I needed to do. The phrase was, "Trust in Christ alone." I realized in a moment I was not trusting in Jesus and what He did for me through His death and resurrection by itself. I was depending on what I can do. I knew I needed to depend on what Jesus did for me and in that moment I decided to let go and trust in Christ alone. Since that moment I have realized more of God's love for me. I finally understand that God is not disappointed in me whenever I sin, but He has forgiven me of all my sin and He has given me His Holy Spirit to live like Jesus did, in a close relationship with God the Father. I am discovering increasingly that God is not who I thought He was, that He is better, and I can trust Him in every step of this life.
1 John 4:9-10 "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." ESV
