Our missionaries are normal people from all walks of life who have dedicated their lives to serving and following Jesus wherever He calls them. Want to meet them? Check out our Missionary Directory.
While serving at the Word of Life Japan, I serve students, teachers, and staff mainly in the area of administration. Discipling female students, encouraging students to grow in their spiritual walk, and challenging them to be leaders for the next generation would be some of the other opportunities I have. At SYME students are learning English as a second language as well as Bible. Many of them come from Christian homes, but some of them do not. Sharing the gospel with them will be another part of my ministry.
I was born and raised in a Christian home. My family, who loves the Lord, has greatly blessed me. The percentage of Christians in Japan is so small, it is less than half of 1% (0.5%). I am very thankful that my grandmother made the decision to follow the Lord when she was young. However, I wasn't very serious about what Jesus had done for me until I was 14 years old, but that year, I clearly understood the gospel and trusted Jesus as my personal Savior.
In 2007, I entered an English school in Japan called SYME (School of Youth Ministries in English) which is a Word of Life ministry in Asia. It was one of the greatest years I have ever had. I grew up in church, but I didn't have a strong biblical foundation. Through the SYME program, teachers, friends, and staff, the Word of God became real and changed my life and purpose. It was during this year that I was called to be a missionary. (Matthew 14:15-21)
God opened the door for me to attend Word of Life Bible Institute (2008-2010). During my two years at the Bible Institute, my desire to be a missionary continued to grow even stronger.
After I graduated from the Bible Institute, I went back to SYME Japan as an intern and I absolutely loved being part of the ministry! My desire is to continue serving in Japan, especially to Christian young people who will be the Christian leaders of the next generation.
