Ministry Description
I am serving in our office in Lima, as the assistant to our Director. I am also in charge of the Administration during our Summer camps.
About Marilu
I was born in Peru, in a non-believing family. In 1989, about to turn 25, I traveled to Venezuela with high expectations and hopes. Nothing was as I had expected and due to a failed relationship I fell into depression. In the midst of my anguish and despair, I cried out to a God who I knew existed, but I hadn’t met yet.
One day, on my way to I saw a van that caught my attention, it had a slogan that read "Word of Life, reaching the youth for Christ." What struck me was the word "Life," that's what I was looking for and longed for, my impulse was to take note of the phone number and call. That’s how I arrived to the office of Word of Life and there a missionary showed me the plan of salvation. She explained to me that my sin was my biggest problem and that the only person who could save me and change me was Christ. So, in July of 1992, I received Christ into my heart as my personal Savior. She showed a verse that became a key promise for me, 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
That same year, I was invited to enjoy a week of camp at Word of Life, it was the best week of my life! There, I devoted my life to the Lord and got the desire to go to the Bible Institute. God provided wonderfully and in March of 1994 I was leaving for Argentina. I had a wonderful time that God studying God’s Word and preparing for full time ministry. After the BI, I returned to Venezuela and served there as the Word of Life secretary until 2006. For different reasons and following my father's death, God put in my heart a desire to return to Peru. In January 2007, I was back in the country I had left 17 years ago! Since then, I have been serving in WOL Peru with the desire to reach my family and my people with the Gospel of Christ.
