Our missionaries are normal people from all walks of life who have dedicated their lives to serving and following Jesus wherever He calls them. Want to meet them? Check out our Missionary Directory.
I am privileged to serve as part of the Resident Faculty at Word of Life Africa Bible Institute (W.O.L.A.B.I) here in Uganda and equally in the Academics Department of the same. In relation to life, I am involved in the discipleship of young men.
I was born and bred in the beautiful coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya. I was raised in a Christian home, both my parents are believers. I am the first born in the family of six. Growing up going to church (i.e. Sunday school) was the norm come rain or shine. Occasional family devotions and prayer was the norm. Both my parents were active members of the local church.
It was not until I was the age of twelve, through the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Mombasa, that I made a commitment of following Christ. I came to the knowledge and belief in Christ through the ministry of CEF. One thing I always looked forward to were the Saturday Bible Clubs every afternoon at the home of a dear CEF missionary, the late Louis G. Moore. She had the ability to make Bible and missionary stories come to life! I can still recall the story of Mary Slessor among other exciting missionary stories. Miss Louis Moore was the person that introduced me to Word of Life Diani, Kenya and I have never looked back! Almost every holiday found me in a Word of Life Camp!
However it was not until after my Form 4 (Grade 12) that I began to consider critically what I wanted to do with my life. I attended a DIGUNA (camp in Nairobi called the “School Leavers Campaign”) for 6 weeks and something was sparked within me. We traveled the country as itinerary evangelists. It was during this time of ministry that I knew I wanted to go into full time ministry. I shared with my parents my intentions to go where God was leading me and I had their blessing.
It has been an exciting journey! I joined Word of Life Diani as a volunteer and served in the ministry of camps and bible clubs. A door opened for Bible training and I attended the Bible School for Theological Training. After training, I went back and served with WOL Diani and later served in a local Baptist church in Mombasa. The Lord then opened door for me to come and serve with the Word of Life Africa Bible Institute here in Uganda.
Staying in a cross cultural setting there is always something to learn. I serve as Resident faculty, teaching is an awesome experience. The goal of knowledge is application. It is an esteemed honor to be part of a team that is impacting the lives of the young people both in and outside class.
My life verse is found in Ephesians 1:17 where Paul writes “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you (me) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you (I) may know him better.”
God enabling you, I invite you to make a commitment and invest in this ministry that the Lord has called me to.
