Ministry Description

Just like discipleship was a major piece of Jesus' ministry in His time here on earth, discipleship is one of my main ministry focuses. As the Holy Spirit prepares me to go in this unique way I am pursuing a teaching English as a second language (TESL) degree to not only be able to help others communicate effectively in a language other than their heart language, but to teach them the word of God and how to take it with them wherever the Lord takes them.

About Rachel

I was adopted from Antigua Guatemala and raised in a Christian home. Growing up church was more of a social event than anything else. One Wednesday night, in my 6th grade year; my youth pastor mentioned a weekend winter camp. I was anxious to get out of the house and hang out with friends, so I asked my parents if I could go. They agreed.

Friday night I packed up everything and headed out in a really old church van to what was in my mind 'a weekend of fun.'

From the moment I stepped out of the van three hours from home this place I had never been before felt like home.

That very first night we had our welcome session. My pastor presented a message in which he challenged us to use the weekend well. For the life of me I cant remember what he said, but I remember the worship. Both of the songs that were played displayed the gospel in a way that I had never heard it before. I didn't understand it all, but what the Lord in His grace did allow me to grasp was the depth of His love. I can still remember how overwhelming it was.

Nine years later, and His faithfulness becomes more and more apparent to me everyday. It was during my first year missions conference that the Lord moved my heart in the direction of missions. I signed a covenant at the end of the weekend saying I would give the Lord my all. Word of Life's Cross Cultural Missions Program (CCI) had been in my mind, but I hesitated to apply. In my mind missions was such a serious thing, and I wanted to make sure that I wasn't just rushing into something. I didn't just want the Lords ok to go, I wanted His blessing.

During COVID quarantine (of all times!) The Lord confirmed His calling on my life, and here we are. This is the smallest glimpse possible of just how good He has been to me.
