Ministry Description
God has blessed Word of Life Philippines with four main areas of ministry focus. First, Word of Life Bible Institute. We celebrated our 37th graduation ceremony on May 12, 2018. For these past years, God has blessed us with more than 800 graduates who are now serving in more than 20 countries around the world. God has allowed us to have both a one year program where students earn a diploma in Biblical Studies as well as a four year program where students are trained for full time ministry receiving a Bachelor’s of Ministry degree. Graduates of our four year program are in high demand from local churches and mission organizations who see the quality of graduates. One of our primary goals over the next three years is to send graduates into South East Asia to begin the ministry of WOL in these countries. Second, Word of Life Camp. The very first ministry of WOL Philippines started was “Bible Basketball” with the motto “NO Bible No Basketball”. To this day, 45 years later, Bible Basketball remains one of the most effective and exciting weeks of camp. God has blessed WOL Philippines with two camp properties. One is located two hours outside Manila on the island of Luzon in the province of Laguna while the other is located on the southern island of Mindanao along the ocean facing the West Philippine Sea. These two camps combined have more than 35,000 campers a year. Countless lives have been changed through the camping ministry including many of the WOL Philippines staff who were saved at a WOL Camp. Third, Word of Life Campus Ministry. In 2006, WOL Philippines began an outreach at the University of the Philippines, Los Banos Campus, located only 30 minutes from our Laguna Camp. The focus of this ministry is engaging college students with the Gospel and discipling those who come to know Christ. We now have 3 full-time missionaries serving here as well as a Student Center located near the University. By God’s grace we have now had 5 students who were ministered to through Campus Ministry attend WOL Bible Institute. Fourth, Word of Life Local Church Ministries. We are committed to coming along side local churches in the Philippines to help each church build an effective and Biblical youth ministry. We now have active club ministries in more than 40 churches while ministering to more than 120 local churches through events and leadership training. Our LCM missionaries are located in the 3 main regions of country and are actively working to expand the ministry of WOL in areas we have never been before. The glory goes to God alone! By His grace, the Word of Life Philippines team is looking forward to continuing to reach young people around the Philippines and Asia with God's message of hope and Salvation.
Location Information
The Philippines is a tropical archipelago consisting of more than 7,000 islands. Situated 700 miles off the coast of Asia it is the second largest archipelago in the world next to Indonesia and is slightly larger than Arizona. Its location is strategic and makes rich with natural resources, which attracts many types of people. There are two official languages in the Philippines, Filipino and English. Of the country's 105 million people, 83% of them claim Roman Catholicism as their religion.
